Goals for Jan/Feb

The year started better than 2021 within my personal life, but we are grappling with the impact and effects of COVID and Omicron. Here in Perth, WA, we’ve lived a fairly easy life, and as my cousin from Adelaide put it when he came to visit last November, our lifestyle was like pre-COVID. That has changed and West Australians as a whole are resilient, however there is a small percentage of people who are being particularly fractious. There are people who are in much worse situations, just have to look at what is happening in the Ukraine. The news and social media outlets need to take responsibility for the erroneous and negative information they publish. I do apologise for my rant but I am really over the selfishness and the poor behaviour of people since the pandemic.

Anyway, I will now focus on what I have achieved for January and February.

Personal Goals

  • Home and work balance
    • While I did hibernate a little over the Christmas and New Year (2021 was a busy year at school), I did visit family and caught up with friends. We also went away for a week in Denmark. A beautiful seaside town about seven hours drive south of Perth, and managed to go to Albany to see a friend and her husband. We spent a lovely afternoon drinking, eating and chatting.
  • Learn meditation
    • The course I was looking at hasn’t started, so I’ll need to research for another course.
  • Fitness
    • I have been walking. Almost hit the 80,000 steps.
  • Photography
    • I did take photos while in Denmark, which I can’t share at present. As soon as I figure out why, I’ll upload them.

Professional Goals

  • Writing
    • Currently working on book 2 | Coin of time series. I do have daily word targets but there’s been a few changes at home and haven’t managed to write as much. Once we settle back into a routine, I am sure I’ll be back on track.
    • I have revised the edits and comments my editor made on book 3 | Servant of the Gods series. The ms is back with her and I am waiting to hear back.
    • Haven’t had a chance to identify and learn two different marketing strategies, though I have signed up for Women in Publishing Summit. Thankfully, I can watch the recordings when I have time.
  • Teaching
    • I am now working four days a week, not by choice, our school numbers have dropped and so my time was reduced. I wasn’t the only teacher and staff member at the school affected. I am just grateful to still have a job, a few of the non-teaching staff were made redundant.
    • I plan to use my day off for writing, and hopefully get ahead with my WIPs, that is unless I get called in to do relief teaching. I think it’s called substitute teaching in the US. My friends in the US can correct me if I am wrong. Not sure what the UK equivalent is.

Here’s a quote that I want to share with you:

You can start late, look different, be uncertain and still succeed.

Misty Copeland

Very true words.

How has your 2022 started? Has anything changed for you in the last few years due to COVID?

Take care and stay safe.
