Book launches are weird creatures. There are highs and lows leading into the big day, expectations of what may happen, anxiety that you haven’t done enough and not sure how the book will be received by readers, and the busyness surrounding the publication. This year, I thought to use more than one promotion service to reduce time spent in creating blog posts, social media images, etc, and have someone else organise the schedule, due to the issue that I didn’t have a lot of time to spare.
The other aim in using the services was to reach more readers and increase sales. I’ve yet to collate all data and review the statistics and will do so in the coming weeks. The exposure to a different audience is good, and Minotaur’s Lair has received at the time of writing this article an average of 4.5-star twenty plus reviews on Goodreads and BookBub, and just over a dozen on Amazon. A solid start but like any author, I was hoping for a lot more reviews. As they say, reviews sell books.
