As the seasons shift here in Australia, I’ve been spending more time outdoors. The days are stretching longer, the warmth of spring lingers in the air, and my garden is slowly coming together. There’s something about this time of year that makes me reflective. Perhaps it’s the rhythm of nature, reminding us that change is both inevitable and necessary.
Lately, my thoughts have been circling around my Coin of Time series. When I first began sketching ideas for it more than ten years ago, I had no idea how strongly some of the themes would one day resonate with our world today. At the time, I was simply fascinated by the question: What if history’s darkest ambitions could be revived, reshaped, and unleashed again in modern times?
What I couldn’t have predicted was how eerily that premise would echo events unfolding on the global stage. History, as many of us know, has a disturbing tendency to repeat itself. We like to think humanity learns from its mistakes, yet the same patterns resurface again and again—conflict, ambition, power struggles, the pursuit of control at the expense of peace and human dignity.
As a student of history, I often find myself asking: Why are we doomed to repeat the atrocities of the past? The world is rich in beauty, wonder, and creativity, yet so often overshadowed by leaders who choose domination over cooperation, destruction over preservation. This duality—the magic of the world alongside its fragility—has always fascinated me. It’s also one of the driving forces behind my writing.
For storytellers, these cycles of history provide powerful material. They give us a lens through which to explore timeless questions: What does it mean to wield power responsibly? How does ordinary courage stand against extraordinary cruelty? Can humanity ever truly change its course? These questions don’t come with easy answers, but they shape the heart of the Coin of Time series.
It makes me wonder: have you ever read a book that felt almost prophetic, as if it had foreseen the events of our time? Some stories seem to carry truths that outlast the moment they were written, whispering warnings or offering insights that we only fully recognize years later.

Amidst all this reflection, I’m excited to share that the journey of my series is entering its next chapter, and I’ve been busy writing Book 3!
