Yes, I am behind on my goals, such as it is but wanted to post May’s update before the June reveal. Please read on…
I’m not sure what happened to the month of May, but it zoomed by. We’re heading into winter here in the Southern Hemisphere, and while we don’t have snow in Western Australia, though it has been known some snow falls on our Stirling Ranges. It does get that cold here. Mostly, our climate is Mediterranean, and we have mild winters. Still, cold for me.
So how did I go for May? I’ll let you be the judge.
Personal Goals
Home and work life balance
- A bit of a bust. I had signed up to a number for a few professional learning sessions that happened after school. Not many nights home early. Need to readdress. The upside is, I am not opening my laptop as often to work and check emails as I have done on the weekends.
Fitness
- Failed. Again.
Photography
- No photos this month.
Food and wine
- This is going well. We’ve been on the food plan for six weeks now and it is working. I’ve seen positive results from eating lots of leafy greens, nuts, berries and protein, which is weighted. And still having a glass of wine!
Professional Goals
Teaching
- Need to stop signing up for courses! Teaching in a private girls’ school and one that is prestigious does make it difficult if you are not seen to engage in professional learning.
Writing
- On track! I am hoping by the end of June, the ms is with Beta Readers. Woohoo!
Still reading the Serenity Prayer
What have I learnt this month? With regards to my teaching career, I keep trying to please others by enrolling in courses. I need to stop do this and tell myself that I am very good teacher, and don’t need to prove myself to anyone. I need to spend time treating myself with care and respect, something I don’t do well. And reward my successes.
Are you fixated on addressing everyone else’s concerns rather than your own? What have you learnt about yourself that you don’t like? What have you done to change the way you act and think about your place in the work force? Got some good strategies that you’d like to share? Love to hear them!
Thank you for your continued support and as always, I look forward to your comments and will respond.
